A dissapointment to many

It is not easy to start relationships, hence it is very important that once you start one you should maintain or sustain it. Many people would agree with me that when you have set a high standard, you must make sure that you do not in anyway lower that standard or disappoint the people you have made happy before.

It is quite sad and disappointing that the 2012 London Olympics Organisers failed to do that regarding the closing ceremony. With the breath-taking Opening ceremony that we all witnessed, the closing ceremony just left us tired and confused. We all were expecting the same or more vibe as the Opening Ceremony. Its a pity to the NBC (National Broadcasting Agency) News as it spent much time listening to people's complaints about the coverage provided. The NBC unfortunately chose to cut performances from the closing ceremony, costing U.S (United States) fans the chance of seeing their favourite stars like:

  • Royal Ballet
The supporters were disappointed indeed as only one performance of George Michael was shown/published. The moment were volunteers received a standing ovation was also cut by the NBC, and the reasons for the cuts remain extremely controversial. While the big ratings make NBC feel good about their efforts that also means more people witnessed the network dropping the ball throughout the entire Olympics. Read more

Many people were left amazed and hanging by the closing ceremony and are unfortunately not looking forward to any other upcoming events such as this one. When the Olympics were held in Beijing and in Ethens, many artists were given a chance to perform unlike in London, where only London artists were given a chance to perform and showcase their talents. Its quite clear that this set a bad image and reputation for the NBC and the event organisers, but the question here is that will they gain people's trust and confidence again on their upcoming events???

  1. Relationships are supposed to be real and be built on trust. The closing ceremony of the olympics was tedious, I was bored to death. Meeting your objective of maintaing and sustaing a relationship is quite arduous, meaning that it requires a strenuous effort especially for communication purposes, and for you to gain confidence from your stakeholders...they lacked something even though I still don't know what was it.

    1. A lot of people were really bored man. I agree with you that it takes streneous efforts to sustain an already built relationship and its a pity that the closing ceremony organisers failed to do so.

  2. First of all, it was wrong of England to have British performers only , what about other nation's artists? And as for the NBC, they have a lot of making up to do as they have lost their good reputation with their various stakeholders.

    1. NBC has a very long way to go in making sure that they retain all the trust and good image that people associated with them.

  3. we all have to understand that doing these kind of events takes great planning and yes the closing was very poor and to michelle it was not wrong for these guys to use theire own perfomers because they are the host city so everything they do has to be of great benefit to them.

    1. I have to dissagree with you there vincent, they were the hosts of the event but that doesnt mean that they have to think for themselves only...what about the other people who are from other sides of the country and who do not understand their music, language????they suppose to accomodate everyone

  4. All i noticed in 2012, when it comes to international artist coming to SA is either disappointing, fruads, lack of communication and/or boring. Now what went wrong with this industry?

    1. I think the NBC is to be blamed for the coverage and the organisers can be blamed on the perfomance side of things.

  6. Event organisors should build and nourish relationships so that they could get much needed support from the targeted audiences.

    1. The opening ceremony was nice and well planned and by that they really gained our trust, i just dont know how they failed to sustain such good relationship that they have already built with their beloved stakeholders.

  7. YEAH, THIS WAS A REAL DISAPPOINTMENT AND THEY SHOULD'VE THOUGHT OF BRINGING IN OTHER ARTISTS AND NOT ONLY ARTISTS FROM ENGLAND AND AS A RESULT..THEIR ARTISTS DID NOT DELIVER.

    1. Well thats the most boring part, they only wanted their artist to perform and closed the opportunity for other artists only to find out that they will be dissapointed. one of the artists they trusted was George who took advantage of them and used the opportunity to market his new songs.

  8. I think that it is very important that when ever an event such as the olympics is organised that evrybody shoul be cosidered when performing. You cant have one artist performing and yet there are many people from different countries and cultures coming to see the opening. Everybodies taste has to be considered.

    1. My point exactly, the organisers should have known better. how can they plan a world event and yet only catter for one country, what about other people who payed a lot of money to attend the event???

  9. special events such as this one was supposed to have many performers.it is suprising that it took many months to plan this event but planners only managed or wanted to have one performer for the closing which was suppose to be unforgetable.

    1. Very suprising you can say Noni. Such a long time was taken to plan this event and we all expected to see wonders but unfortunately we were dissapointed.

    1. They obvously dont know how important it is to have relationshps with people all over because you might never know what the future holds for you. relationships are very important to build and to sustain.

  11. Thats very bad to let only london artists to perform and exclude other artists that are not from london. It shows that they care more about their local artists to express their talents than others

    1. They should have made their research thorouly, maybe they could have seen that the past events hosts made sure that they accomodated everyone when they planned this kind of event hence they didnt have such critics form people.

  12. Firstly, a bad decision was made by letting only Londn artists to perform, this portrays London as a country that is not willing to work with other countries and I'm afraid they might not gain people's trust easily because it takes years to build a relationship but a moment to break or ruin it... And in most cases you have to save the last for the best, because although first-impression counts, recency effect also counts.

    1. Yes I agree, they are now seen as a selfish counrty which does not care about other people but themselves only. This will cause other countries to be less interested in building any relationships with them.
