Once again in 2012

HOW MANY MUST WE EXPECT: One of the Nominees for the SAMA, Zaharra

It is that time of the year again. We are only counting days to the 18th MTN South African Music Awards (SAMA) Ceremony. Last years Awards were such a Fiaasco, but I think this year a lot of changes will be made. I really think this Ceremony is such an inspiration to upcoming local Artists and should be supporrted by all fellow South Africans. Such kind of events are really Good because they show that we support and appriciate the amazing work of our own local artists.

I really think its about time we stop filling up stadiums when we have International Artists and fail to support our own Artists.  Lets hope the Organisers of the event have really grown and up their gameas in the past the event would only feature few hosts but this year I bet we are in for a big suprise. This Rocking event will be held at Sun City, Johannesburg on Monday, 30 April 2012 and will be televised on SABC1 at 08h30pm. Come on South Africans lets do this one more time and give it our all. Tickets are available at Computicket, so go get yours.

    1. same here my love, so looking forward to this years ceremony and also hope that they wont repeat but learn from last years event mistakes.after all they must remember that they have an image to build and sustain and target market to make happy.

  2. its a great thing that South African musicians are recognised by the music industry for bringing something fresh to the industry, and it will obviously boost SAMA and the MTN brand as well as other sponsors. It gives more confidence to say that this years awards will be a blast and that they will go nice and smooth without any disappointments. Compared to Metro FM Awards 2011, held in Nelspruit last year, they were a disaster with all thanks to the stupid PR and Events company that organised it, leaving some artist having no place to sleep or proper bathrooms. I must say that the MTN SAMA awards organizing committee is good and never disappoints and I wish goodlucky to all contenders of the SAMA nominees. My question that is always stressing me is, why SAMA's are always held at SUN CITY? Is it the only venue that they could use? I think its time for a change and explore different places because I am sure that musicians are now tired of always going to the same place for SAMA's

    1. That is a very good question Loyiso but unfortunately the Sun City is the biggest place in Johannesburg to hold suh events like the SAMAs. There are bigger venues ofcourse outside Johannesburg but remember that the SAMAs are meant to be held only here at Johannesburg.

  3. i think history will repeat itself looking at how they are building up thier media relations for the event that means the event will also be just like last year

    1. Well that is your opinion Brother but I really dont think History will repeat itself this time around. I think they have learnt their lessons and are trying by all means to make the Event a spectacular one this year.

    1. Better indeed Mthokozisi. They really suprised us and changed our negative perceptions about the SAMAs. Big ups to the organisers and hope they continue with the good work.

  7. 2012 MTN awards was good enough than the previous years. This shows that MTN is adapting to change in order to improve their events because there is a huge difference between 2012 sama awards with the previous MTN awards.

    1. A huge difference indeed. It shows that they appriciated and evaluated the criticisms from last years event and made sure that this year they dont repeat the same mistakes but they do even ten times more improvement this year.

  8. The awards were so much better than last years' but, the MC's were too many. They should've just chosen one person to do it. And also the live performances didn't all make the audience go wild. It was only one or two who performances which got the audience going.

    1. I really think they made a good choice by having as many MC's compared to having only one, imagine if there is only one BORING MC. Its much better to do it the way they did because we get to compare the MCs and criticise which in that way they also grow as Individuals and in the Industry they are in.

    1. Well it is quite clear that as individuals we dont think the same way or like same things. According to a lot of peopele and I the 2012 SAMAs were ten times better compared to last years. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and if that is yours then its perfectly fine too.

    1. That is exactly what a lot of us are hoping for, because if the SAMAs this year are as bad as last year's or worse then they are really failing to sustain their image which is a very sad thing.

  11. i agree with that we should support South African local artists as for the Awards wow what a show atleast they have upgraded from last year and i think the catogories that were added also is a good thing because more of our local artist should be apreciated for what they do

    1. I truly agree with you Grace, we should support our local artists just like we support International ones as it is said that Charity begins at home.

  12. I have to agree with you on that point that we need to start supporting our local artists because if we donnot support them who will support them.

    1. Couldnt have said it better myself Dineo. Who are axpecting to support our artists if we are failing to. Some of our local artists die broke just because we are not supporting them enough or we are pirating their CD's.

  14. I already watched the 2012 SAMA's at least things have changed a bit i must say the stage was amazing. I didnot like this thing of cutting the music before it ends and mixing jazz, kaito, hip-pop and traditional music that really messed things up.

    1. For me it was something unexpected yet out of the ordinary. The stage was really impressing and nice. The cutting of Music before it ends really spoiled the mood but fortunately did not ruin the whole event.
